I’m going to be honest with you. I was never really a huge fan of politics. Through high school and my early college days, I could have cared less what was going on in the world especially when it came to election time. It was just never my thing. And then I had to start adulting. I mean, at some point, a shift happens in your life and you start to care about what is going on in the world and the future of that world that your kids are going to grow up in.
So guys…you gotta vote. Whether you really support one candidate or you dislike both of them the same, you have to vote.
I know it’s hard when you believe that neither choice is a good one. And you’re wondering how you could ever choose between the two…But you have to. There is no alternative, no other choice out there, and writing in Mickey Mouse isn’t going to do much good (and yes that thought did cross my mind).
How do you choose? Look them up. Take the time to really get to know the candidates in both the national and local elections. Ignore what everyone else is telling you and look up how each candidate stands on the issues. Don’t trust everything you hear in the media. Educate yourself and choose the one who aligns most with what YOU believe. Everyone believes in something and you should vote for what you believe in. And you shouldn’t feel bad if you don’t feel the same way as one of your friends. The greatest thing about voting, you don’t have to tell anyone who you voted for.
So vote because you want to see changes made in America. Vote because you have the freedom to do so. Vote because you have a voice and that voice needs to be heard. Get out there and vote.
