I love food. LOOOOOOOVE FOOD. And I like to believe that at almost 33 years old, I finally have a healthy relationship with it. But I didn’t always….
I’m a super active person (and always have been) but I never paid attention to the nutritional aspects of what I was eating until the past couple years.
I used to be the girl who tried all the fad diets. Counting calories (obsessively) to the point where I did it without thinking about it and in the most unhealthy way possible. And jumping from diet to diet denying myself food because someone told me it was bad.
And that’s what we do. We hear carbs are horrible and we cut them out. And we’re told organic is best so we buy ALL THE ORGANIC FOOD. Some believe meat is killing us, others that dairy is the devil.
But! The truth is….everyone processes FOOD differently. Foods that cause me to feel bad or gain weight don’t do the same for others. Some people can’t have carbs…others have to stay away from gluten. People make a choice to be vegetarian or vegan. And they do it because that’s what’s best for them.
I have friends who thrive on Paleo, others who are doing great on the Keto diet, and some who love the whole 30. And every one of them is happy because they are doing what works for them…what makes them happy.
So how do you find the perfect diet? You do what’s best and what works for you. There is no “one size fits all” diet and there never will be.
So eat the way you love and the way you’ve found works for you. Don’t eat to be happy…be happy with what you eat.
