I feel like the kids are all going through tough phases right now. So kid life is hard. There is always one kid who is unhappy with something. And the fighting is at an all time high. Which means, I have to divide and conquer.
Basically, I split them up and try to spend some quality time with each of them. Which is always necessary but seems more necessary at the present moment. So, last week, I snatched up Connor and spent the day with him at Magic Kingdom.
Annnnd, it was awesome. We had the best time. The other two are going next week. But Connor doesn’t like the roller coasters like they do and likes some of the smaller rides that the other two don’t. And I was able to talk Connor into going on my all time favorite ride…the Haunted Mansion. He thought it was creepy but kinda loved that a ghost followed us home.
I’ve actually been keeping up with my whole “read at least 30 minutes a day” thing I started about a month ago. It’s been really awesome seeing my reading pile go down for two reasons. One, it means I’m actually reading. And two…it means I get to buy more books. Some of my current favorites:
- Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert
- Daring Greatly by Brene Brown
- Present over Perfect by Shauna Niequist
My sister-in-law made some amazing Mickey and Minnie cookies for my niece’s 2nd birthday. I had one (and by one I mean two) yesterday and they’re still all I can think about.
This has been the best thing I’ve ever done. Taking 30 minutes to myself every day…it’s a must guys. I feel so much better when I do something, anything, for myself. I think sometimes we just forget that we need some love to. Whether it’s just reading for 30 minutes, taking a nice long bath, or unplugging from social media and writing in a journal. Just do something for you.
