I’m still having a hard time wrapping my head around what happened in Vegas. A senseless act of violence, one that is starting to be a regular occurrence.
And it’s terrifying.
Our world is consumed by hate and by fear. Fear of differences. Fear of the unknown. And that fear leads to more hate. And I just don’t get it. Where did it all go wrong? When did it all start falling apart?
Every day I look at my children. At these innocent little people who love with their whole hearts. Who don’t hate because of differences. Who don’t fear others because of differences and I wonder how we can all be more like them. How can we be better? How can we stop these tragedies from happening?
And I wish I had the answers. I don’t. But I do know this. Love is greater than hate. There are so many good people in this world. People who run towards the gunshots in order to save more people. People who donate their time to help others, their money, or just their shoulder. The world is full of people who are good, people who love. We have to be those people. The ones that randomly pay for a strangers coffee, who tip their servers $20 on a $10 bill because they were having a bad day. We have to be the people who smile at the cashier and tell them to have a great day or the people who just help a Mom in the parking lot by taking her cart back to the store for her.
We have to be the people who spread love, kindness, and joy. Show the world that love is greater than hate. That love will conquer all.
