And as promised, I’m here to bring you week 1 of the #newyearbeyouchallenge and it’s a doozie. Annnnnd probably not something you’re going to be too thrilled about. But I promise it will be worth it.
One of the things I’ve been working on the past few weeks is going through and decluttering my house. Which is interesting when you live with not one but two hoarders (I’m looking at you husband and daughter). And I decided instead of battling with those two, I’d focus on decluttering the things I can control. Which is basically my stuff and any stuff around the house that never gets touched.
Because the truth is, we have so much crap that never gets used. I’ll give you a for instance….we had about 3-4 boxes full of markers and crayons and colored pencils. Most of the markers don’t work. And they just sit there. So, in the trash they went.
At the end of the day, we want our homes to be filled with the things we love, things that make us happy. I look at my coffee mug collection and it makes me happy. I look at boxes and bins of markers and get anxious.
So, it’s time to get rid of the junk. Go room to room and if you don’t love it, if it doesn’t put a smile on your face, or you just don’t use it…toss it or (if you can) donate it. I promise getting rid of the junk helps. It gives you a fresh start to put things in your home that you love and that make you happy. And that’s what this challenge is all about…finding you and your happy. So go forth and toss all the things! And let me know how it goes…
