The acai bowl. Easily one of my favorite things.
I was introduced to the acai bowl about a year or so ago. There’s a little cafe in my hometown that makes them and they are ah-mazing. It’s basically a smoothie in a bowl that’s topped with fresh fruit, granola, and whatever else your heart desires.
You know when you eat something for the first time and you’re not sure if you’re going to love it or hate it? And that feeling seems to be really strong with the current food fad going on. I thought the acai bowl was going to be anything but good. But everyone I knew kept telling me to try it out. That it was amazing.
So I did. And it was.
This is one of those food fads that I don’t feel bad for jumping on board with. I often wonder how I went so long without this deliciousness in my life. So the key to making the acai bowl is this amazing product. I was lucky and able to find them in my local grocery store. Check there first, by the frozen fruits. You can always order online or you can totally substitute with any frozen fruit and then it just becomes a glorious smoothie bowl.
The best thing about these bowls is that you can customize them to your heart’s desire. I love mine simple, with fresh fruit, granola, and a drizzle of honey. But you could add some coconut or maybe a drizzle of chocolate, nut butter, or maybe even some chia seeds. The options are really endless.
